It lingers in the colour of the night
treading softly, weighing less than a ray of light
on a wall of withered flowers
fainting like a broken heart


Hear this in the echo of my fist
pounding hard on the shadow of my fear

like the humming of the breeze

in the foaming wake of my dreams

If only I had seen

the invisible wires
pulling you up
dancing like fire

I'd have stayed on the quay
frozen in time

So long, I have everything I need
to set for smaller deeds
and be one with the sand
back to square one

Pausing for a brief second of doubt

heart-breaking radars from a former life

a flicker and a nod
and the day will be done

If only I had seen
the invisible wires

pulling you up
dancing like fire

I'd have stayed on the quay
frozen in time

But there is no door to enter the ether


So I'll try to forget what I have learnt
